The Graco Nautilus 65 LX 3-in-1 harness booster helps keep your child secure in a 5-point harness, from 22-65 pounds and from 27 to 49 inches. When your child is ready, the forward facing car seat converts to a belt-positioning booster car seat from 30-100 pounds and 38 to 57 inches, then to a backless booster seat from 40-120 pounds and 40 to 57 inches. The Nautilus 65 LX has an extended 5-point harness – fits children up to 65 pounds – keeping them harnessed even longer. We did a LOT of research for our son's seat. On paper many seats look great, but after feeling them in person we were able to narrow it down quickly. For me, it's all about safety (obviously) but also comfort. My little guy hates the car already so an uncomfortable seat is out of the question. This seat has the BEST padding. Many other car seats have a great insert but the padding on the actual seat is very disappointing. This seat is soft (almost like memory foam) on the actual seat and back. The insert is just bonus on top of that. Not to mention the fabric parts are easy to remove and machine washable.

Also, many other seats have a "mushy" clip, like it just kind of slides in and out and you really have to push the button down hard while sliding it with your thumb. This harness audibly clicks open and closed, very satisfying and easy to open with one hand.

A few reasons we went for the LX vs just the basic Nautilus 65: even better seat padding and the little pockets that hold your seat belts to either side so you can load baby without having to dig the seat belts out from under him, as well as the no-fuss height adjustment. Also, by purchasing an open-box model (which was completely new and perfect in all the packaging) we were able to get the LX for LESS than the basic 65.

Lastly, the recline is fantastic. It's not dramatic but it tips the seat back enough so my son is leaning back and his head can rest against the head supports, not fall forward. The seat itself fits great in the middle row of our minivan on one of the captain's seats. It doesn't block the "aisle" or stick out past the seat on any side.

We might remove the shoulder strap pads because they are a little cumbersome and make it a little hard to tighten the belt but they just Velcro right off. All materials and details are high quality and well-designed. This seat is perfect for us!

I love this car seat and highly recommend the 65 LX. When I went to reorder I selected lowest price color however it is NOT the 65. Please double check before ordering as it takes you to a slightly different product. I'm returning the incorrect one for the 65 LX

We replaced our Britax Frontier 90 click tight with this seat. The click tight door was giving us issues and we decided to go back to trusty old Graco. We've owned several gracos and never had issues. This seat isn't *as* sturdy feeling as the britax. But, I will say it is still very nice and secure. The seatbelt install is very straight forward, and the latch is super simple as well. The cover is nice, padded, and soft. The colors of the pierce pattern are very attractive. My son seems comfortable in it. The cup holder and cubby holes are (as always) a hit.

I was very happy to realize the nautilus now has a no rethread harness and buckle holders. It's little features like that that make the seat just that much better. Very welcome improvements to an already great seat. I would recommend for anyone looking into a mid-budget seat. It may not be THE fanciest or THE longest lasting on the market, but it will still work for the large majority of families who don't want to spend a small fortune on a car seat. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and I have no complaints.

Before purchasing this car seat, I read that changing the buckle position was near impossible and required a hammer. I bought into the fear and almost gave up on the car seat. Here's the solution. Place the car seat on its back with the bottom facing you. Angle the metal clip 30 degrees where it's just enough room that you can tug it out with your other hand on the other end. Placing it back in was the tough part but just the opposite procedure. If you are having trouble removing the buckle clip then you are doing it the wrong way like I was. Good luck!

This is identical to the one my fiance has, she seen this one and had to have this one for her car and I got the old one. They feel to me like they are built like a tank. They are very solid and provides excellent protection coming from the state police who showed her how to install it according to the nee safety seat guidelines for free. Our daughter likes this type of seat compared to the ofhers, so we sold the other ones.
